Using the X-T/D

The X-T/D was discontinued in February 2011.

The X-T/D is a transformer-balanced electret condenser microphone that uses a 10mm omnidirectional capsule. The X-T/D is intended for use as a close mic on tom-toms, snare, and hand percussion, and also instrument amplifiers. Its high SPL handling and low sensitivity allow use on loud sources without overloading preamplifiers.

The X-T/D's tailored response capsule has a presence peak centered around 1.5kHz, smaller peaks from 4kHz to 6kHz, and a sharper rolloff above 12kHz. The X-T will exhibit a mild bass rolloff below 80Hz.

Switch Functions, from top (capsule on right):

Transformer bypass: engage (switch to left) for plug-in power or PC mic input.  Do not engage for use with phantom power.

Transformer primary center tap: Reduces turns ratio in half.

Transformer secondary center tap: Doubles turns ratio.

High-shelf EQ cut: -3dB cut above 3kHz; intended to flatten response when primary center tap engaged.
